Gratitude Journal #132

Today, I am grateful for a beautiful Palm Sunday worship service and the tone it set for all this Holy Week. Hosanna! Save us! Indeed.

Today, I am grateful for fresh air and sunshine.

Today, I am grateful for the kindness of strangers.

Today, I am grateful that the hideous orange stucco is gone. Well, it's been gone for months, but I finally took a photo of the lovely, orange-free facade of our new home yesterday. I hope one day soon to say I'm grateful for having the yard put in!

Next on the to-do list: paint the door brick red...

Today, I am grateful for dogs who make us laugh even when we don't want to laugh.

Today, I am grateful for an email I received yesterday. It demonstrated the power of gratitude to heal hurts and worries, to shift our focus away from pain and toward something amazing and beautiful. We are, in so many ways, a product of our habits of mind...and being grateful is a powerful habit to cultivate.

What are you grateful for today?

What seeds of gratitude can you cultivate today?

  1. Great picture of your house and it does look much more blended now :)

My heart is full to overflowing today :) Had a 40th year reunion of the Christian group I attended on campus while in university and to see four decades of people who were discipled, equipped and who share the same passion for their faith was food for the soul. Great time to catch up with friends you haven't seen in years, great worship, and testimonies of God's faithfulness over the generations. My cup runneth over :)

  2. Susan, your new house is so lovely. When I saw the earlier photo of it, all I saw was the ghastly orange. Now I can see all the great angles and details without my eye being drawn away. I'm looking forward to seeing the front yard when it's landscaped.

Today I'm grateful for my dogs' breeder from whom I got two such wonderful companions and also her friendship in the bargain too. I'm going down to Washington state to visit her today.

I'm grateful for the miracle of nature that makes the daffodils in my yard come up and bloom beautifully year after year.

I'm grateful for the early explorers of the world who brought tea back to Europe and thus gave me this wonderful soothing beverage.

  3. What a difference a color change makes! I love the new look.

Today I am grateful for great news over the weekend. I'm going to be a grandma! My daughter is 13 weeks along. I don't know how she managed to keep such a wonderful secret.

Today I am grateful for changes in the economy. Three years ago a friend at work was transferred out of state via her husband's job with GM. This week they are moving back to Michigan and she is back at work with us.

Today I am grateful for sunshine and everything popping up in my yard.

Today I am grateful that this is a four day work week!

  7. Beautiful home! Love the masonry.

Today I am grateful to hear from my sweet friend in the Dallas area, that she and her family are okay and were not affected by the tornadoes. I am so sorry for those who were. I am grateful to have a sunny sky and a warm breeze blowing in my open windows. I am grateful that I was able to sleep five hrs instead of my usual two or three hrs. I am grateful that I was able to finish and mail five cards that I made for people who are need of comfort or cheer. I am so blessed when I can give to others. :)
